We don't really park domains, well sort of, we can alias those domains to your primary domain if you like. We can alias as many domains as you want, and there is no monthly charge (so it's better than most other services that charge for parking a domain). However, there is a $20 setup fee (one time) for each domain we alias to your primary domain. Can I get a new primary domain and make my current primary domain a secondary domain? In order to move a primary to a secondary, we will need to delete it and start it again. This means you need to backup a copy of your web site, etc, so you can re-upload it after we set it up again. How long does it take for a domain move to take effect? It takes 24-48 hours for the move to propagate across the internet. I need one of my secondary domains to be handled separately, so can you issue a unique IP address for it? We can do that, but we will need to delete the secondary and replace it with a new primary account. We need the following information: 1. New primary domain name 2. Ftp password 3. Administrative password 4. Your approval to delete the current web directory (You need to re-upload the web site again) Are there any problems that I might encounter when trying to move my domain to your servers? In order to move the domains we need the current admin contact to acknowledge it, but if the contact cannot be reached, you will have to fax the domain registrar on a signed company letter head which states your title and that you are authorized to represent the company. Can I maintain a web site that is registered and billed to another name? Fill in account application with their info. In the notes, give your e-mail address as the technical contact. Can I move the sites over to your server without moving the domain names until I make sure everything works perfect? Apply on our website and mention you don't want a domain move yet, then you can upload and test with the IP address. We will give you up to thirty days to decide. When you are ready, e-mail us and say you want to move domains. I have a main domain with two secondary domains. How much would you charge me to host these on your server? It depends on your configuration; if the two secondary domains point to different subdirectories of the main account, then it is $19.95 (main) + $10.00 + $10.00 (2 x $10.00 for the sub accounts) per month; the total would be $39.95 per month. I only have my IP address right now because I am waiting to get my domain name cleared; can I start uploading my site? Yes, use your numeric IP address for publishing your site until the registrar moves your domain name to our servers. Does the term "virtual server" mean that the browser reports my address as pointing to a location like http://isp.com/mydomainname? No, our virtual servers are really virtual servers. There is no unwanted redirection. Sorry, but other providers have misused the word. Do you offer volume discount plans for multiple shared domain accounts? Not really, $10 per mo. is pretty cheap. Anyway you're going to run out of space if you keep adding so it may be a good idea to get a new domain once in a while; perhaps grouping no more than 5 domains per account. Can I load an "under construction" web page to my IP address before the domain name is registered? We automatically supply one, but you're welcome to upload your own. My domain registrar has registered my domain name with US Interspace, so why does my site point to my old ISP? It takes about 24 hrs to propagate across the internet. Things may go a little faster if you ask your old ISP to be sure and remove your DNS entry. What is the procedure for changing my domain name? Submit a "secondary" application to add your new name into your current account; both domain names will be active on the account and point to the same web space. If you prefer to keep only one domain name, submit a regular application and in the notes say you want to cancel one account and open a different one. There is a $20 setup charge to setup a new domain, but there are no monthly charges. How can I change my domain name without losing my customers? We recommend adding a new domain to your current account, that way both domains will work; this is probably best since there are links out there to your old domain, and you don't want to cut them off suddenly. After you are satisfied with the new name, and you have given sufficient time for all your customers to migrate to the new name, we can remove the old name from your account while leaving the other still active. Will there be any downtime for my website if I move it to your servers? It should take about 2-3 days, if the administrative contact on the domain is you, or is someone who you can reach easily. We set you up with an IP address and you can begin uploading right away. A domain move propagates across the net in about 24 hours, so during that time both sites will be active. You should not experience any downtime if you upload your web site to our servers before the move. |
